Competition Conditions

General Conditions
  • The artwork shall be created and invented by the student solely and be related to the Zero Waste competition that promotes recycling and waste disposal.
  • Clear and high-quality photos of the artworks shall be uploaded to the competition website using the student's personal number.
  • An internal School Committee, whose members will be from the Arts Department in each school, shall be formed to sort out the participating artworks.
  • Each participating school has the right to upload the photos of 10 artworks and the School Committee should select the best three participating artworks.
  • The participating student is not entitled to submit more than one artwork.
  • Legal and ethical controls, norms and traditions of the Qatari society must be observed and the artwork shall be free from any national symbols, emblems, or slogans, as the violating artworks shall be excluded.
  • Security and safety procedures must be adhered to.
  • All rights related to or arising from the submitted artworks shall be owned by the Ministry of Municipality and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
  • The availability of participating artworks in the school, for delivery when requested, shall be deemed important.
Submission of artworks
  • Eligibility to participate: Participation is available to all governmental/ private primary, preparatory, and secondary schools.
  • Competition date: The photos of the artworks shall be uploaded to the competition website by students or by their parents using the student’s personal number from Sunday, January 22, 2023 until Thursday, March 2, 2023.
Drawing, painting or artistic expression (with watercolor, acrylic, pencil, charcoal, or any other mediums)
Criteria for participation in the drawing, painting or artistic expression category
  • Drawings, paintings, or any other artistic pieces shall be with watercolor, acrylic, pencil, charcoal, or any other mediums.
  • The dimensions of the submitted pieces shall not exceed 30 x 40 cm. (for flat artworks).
  • All the following data shall be added (in printed form for flat artworks) behind any submitted artworks: the competition name, the student’s name, school, class and age, the supervisor name, and the contact number.
  • The artwork should have a coherent and expressive arrangement, as well as an attractive visual style.
Design and digital art, including educational posters or videos
Criteria for participation in the design and digital art category, including videos (films) or educational posters (digital design)
  • The length of any submitted video shall be from 30 seconds to a minute.
  • Videos should present a creative idea that expresses the theme of the competition.
  • Video should utilize artistic skills, such as audio and visual effects, lighting, etc.
  • Videos shall not infringe intellectual property rights, such as images, sound effects, etc.
  • Credits of the video shall include the name of the school, the stage of study, the name of the film, the cast (and the role of each of them), and the date.
  • The main theme of the competition (i.e. Zero Waste) shall be maintained and highlighted throughout the video.
  • In the event that the video is related to any of the competent authorities (for example: ministries, institutions, or any other entities...), relevant prior approval shall be obtained.
Artistic works (building three-dimensional artworks from recycled waste)
Criteria for participation in the Artistic work category (building three-dimensional artworks from recycled waste)
  • The dimensions of any three-dimensional artwork shall not exceed 40 x 40 x 60 cm (W x Lx H).
  • A hard sticker showing the competition name, the student’s name, school, class and age, the supervisor name, and the contact number should be added to the submitted three-dimensional artwork.
  • The materials used should be residual waste arranged in a way that reflects recycling and the theme of the competition.
